Roots of pacha alpha3/23/2023 I look forward to seeing where the game goes.ĭevs, you've done a wonderful job in making a unique instalment in what is becoming a crowded genre. The devs are already releasing updates for bug fixes, as well as taking on player feedback. I also think that including family ties, or making it more apparent you are related, to the couple that you start off staying with, may also be worth considering.Īlthough the game is in alpha, I highly recommend you pick it up through Pledgebox. Farming, cooking and crafting could also be made more complex, but that is a later consideration. It feels like you are actually from the community.Ĭurrently, the dialogue is repetitive and gives me no inclination to talk to villagers - that will change though as development progresses. This is also unique in a lot of ways, as it's not amnesia or your new to town. The inclusion of a 'community hut' where there is cooking set up, also gives the feel that you are part of a community and not just a solo farmer starting out. I like this mechanic, as it suits the theme and makes me feel like I'm helping out. Instead of making money by selling things, you are instead contributing to the village and earning 'contributions'. For taming animals, you have to hit notes at the right time. Its still a bit finicky, however, it allows you three goes at the same fish before the fish vanishes off screen. If you move off of the fish/out of the box area, the fish will get spooked. The type of fish will be revealed as the box gets smaller and you are eventually able to catch it. You have to hover your mouse over the fish and following it as a box shrinks. When fishing, you are looking top down at a little pond with a lily pad and some stones. It has employed a few unique mechanics for things such as animal taming and fishing, which I find refreshing in the current climate of farming sims. It is definitely the smoothest alpha I've ever played and is gorgeous to boot. At the moment, you can only play up until Spring 28, but that will change as the alpha progresses. Although still in alpha, the game has heaps of content available, such as building up your farm, crafting, taming animals, exploring, puzzle solving, fishing, and befriending villagers. I've played almost all of the farm games on the market currently, and personally, I think RoP has the potential to be one of the best out there. Roots of Pacha is a farming sim game much in the vein of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Stardew Valley.
